CEPD — Chinese Emotional Prosody Database

Chinese Emotional Prosody Database

The Chinese Emotional Prosody Database (CEPD) comprises recordings from 51 speakers conveying 25 emotions through two emotionally neutral sentences: “It’s already 12 o’clock (现在已经十二点了)” and “Someone is standing there (有人站在那里)”.

The emotions include Adoration (喜爱), Amusement (好笑), Anger (气愤), Awe (令人惊叹), Confusion (困惑), Contempt (轻蔑), Desire (欲望), Disgust (厌恶), Distress (苦恼), Excitement (兴奋), Fear (恐惧), Gratitude (感谢), Happiness (开心), Interest (兴趣), Moved (感动), Praise (赞扬), Pride (自豪/骄傲), Sadness (悲伤), Sajiao (撒娇), Shame (羞愧/内疚), Snicker (坏笑), Surprise (惊讶), Positive Surprise (惊喜), Triumph (胜利), and Neutrality (中性).

For each stimulus in CEPD, we provide detailed perceptual and acoustic descriptions, including recognition accuracy, perceived intensity, valence, arousal, and eGeMAPS acoustic feature values (Eyben et al., 2016). The database is available on OSF for research purposes only.
